I have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as getting caught up. I can say this after all the hours I have spent "trying to catch up". I'm trying to learn how to not use this as an excuse or as a description for my usual day-to-day doings. It's not easy. I always feel like I am spinning in circles as I navigate the mess on my desk, the mess in the studio, the garden, the house, the art projects, you get the idea.
That being said, I can now move forward and send out this blog today.
My series, "Apocalyptic Memories", is an ongoing process. I had such a lovely experience with my first big solo show in Portland, Oregon with Guardino Gallery. It was an incredible experience to be showing my art in a gallery where I have dreamed of showing. I came home floating on a very large fluffy cloud filled with hope and inspiration as I prepared for this next show.
I created the image above, "Surrealistically Speaking" after my granddaughter came for a visit. We had a quick photo session in a lot filled with old machinery and a fabulous old rusty building. The rust building became the sunken boat in this image. I added lots of watery textures and elements, changed the color of the dress she was wearing and voila, we're underwater with a mermaid.
This image is included in my current show and you are receiving this information the day before my reception for this show. There is no such thing as catching up.
